Sing we now... includes some of the most beautiful choral music ever written for this special season. Traditional carols settings, unaccompanied choral favorites, and new arrangements offer something for everyone.
Sing we now... demonstrates Cantaré's versatility, from age-old settings of Lullay My Liking and O Magnum Mysterium to contemporary works and many styles in between. We bring surprise and delight to this annual Christmas choral tradition, from the Latin hymn Venite Adoremus with musical variations on the refrain of "Oh Come All Ye Faithful," to traditional works with contemporary twists. We'll share an O Holy Night with African percussion, Variations on Jingle Bells that will keep you wondering what comes next, and a set of Latvian carols for the international listener. The concert closes with our signature Silent Night, as recorded on our 2010 CD, An Evening In December.
Additional Concert: This year we bring our Christmas choral spirit to a new venue. In addition to our annual holiday home at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral on December 3rd at 7:30 pm and December 4th at 2:00 pm, we will perform for the first time at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lynnwood on Friday, December 2nd at 7:30 pm.
About Cantaré Vocal Ensemble: Cantaré Vocal Ensemble is the choral ensemble for those of you who are skeptical of choral music. We continually program concerts and events across a broad range of musical tastes without the stuffiness or formality found at traditional choral concerts. In our performances we strive to be relaxed and intimate with the audience. We program music to open people's eyes to the fun, beauty and accessibility of a wide variety of musical types and styles. As we like to say Non e un coro per le Mamme! (This ain't your Mamma's choir).
Founded by Artistic Director Mark Adrian in 2000, the ensemble includes 40-50 singers from throughout the greater Seattle area. Concerts are typically performed at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral on Capitol Hill, Lakeside School in north Seattle, Town Hall on First Hill, and at Benaroya Hall in downtown Seattle.
Tickets for future Cantaré Vocal Ensemble concerts can be purchased from chorus members, online or by calling the box office at 206-551-4544.
